On January 21st 1941, former personell of the Polish Air Forces C.W.L. Deblin Training Centre were formed into No.315 Deblinski (City of Deblin) Fighter Squadron at Acklington, England. This was the sixth Polish squadron formed in the RAF from expatriate airmen to continue the fight against Nazi Germany. In July 1944, the squadron, flying hte Mustang Mk.III became part of the Air Defence of Gerat Britain where its primary role became Diver Patrols against V-1 flying bombs from the continent, although it continued to fly armed reconnaissance, escort and other missions over occupied Europe. At this time the unit was led by the legendary Squadron Leader Eugeniusz Horbaczewski, nicknamed Dubek, who was to achieve 16.5 victoriesin the air, with 5.5 of these in the Mustang, plus 4 V-1s downed. The stories of his courage were many, the most notable being the occasion when he landed his Mustang on an uncompleted Normandy landing strip and flew one of his downed pilots home on his lap. Tucked in tight en route to Copenhagen, a wave of Mosquito FB VIs of 21 Sqn and their Mustang Mk.III escorts of 126 Sqn (including top Ace Agorastos John Plagis - 16 victories, on his last mission of the war) approach the Jutland Peninsula after a bumpy crossing of the North Sea on the morning of 21st March 1945. The Mosquitoes went on to carry out one of the most daring and successful raids of the Second World War on the German Gestapo headquarters in the centre of Copenhagen, inflicting irreparable damage to the Shellhus and killing more than 150 Gestapo personnel.

Dzubeks Deblinskis by Ronald Wong  On January 14th, former personnel of the Polish Air Force's C.W.L. Deblin training centre were formed into number 315 Deblinski (City of Deblin) Fighter Squadron at Acklington, England. In July 1944, the squadron flying the Mustang MkIII (P51C), became part of the Air Defence of Great Britain (ADGB) where it's primary role became "Diver Patrols" against V1 flying bombs from the Continent, although it continued to fly armed reconnaissance, escort and other mission over Occupied Europe. At this time the unit was led by the legendary Squadron Leader Eugeniusz Horbaczewski (nicknamed "Dzubek") who was to achieve 16½ victories in the air (5½ in the Mustang) plus 4 V1's downed. The stories of his courage were many, the most notable being the occasion when he landed his Mustang on an uncompleted Normandy landing strip and flew one of his downed pilots home on his lap. The outstanding air battle for 315 squadron occurred on August 18, 1944 when it engaged over 60 Luftwaffe fighters near Beauvais and destroyed 16 ME 109's and FW 190's for the loss of one of their own, which sadly was that of Dzubek himself.

The badge on the nose is the rooster emblem of III./JG2 and the decoration on Schnells rudder shows 70 of his eventual total of 93 kills.

Half Price - £35.00 		Flight Lieutenant Ian <i>Widge</i> Gleed is depicted in his personal Hurricane 1 P2798 (LK-A) of 87 Sqn shooting down a Messerschmitt Bf.110 on 15th August 1940. Just visible beneath the cockpit of the Hurricane is his mascot, Figaro, shown kicking a swastika. His aircraft was also easily identifiable by the red flash on its nose, a feature that was retained even when P2798 was painted all black for its night fighter role. Gleed scored many victories before being shot down and killed whilst flying a Spitfire Vc in the Western Desert in April 1943.

Half Price - £700.00 		With the Battle of Britain at its height and the RAF stretched to breaking point, September of 1940 was a desperate time for the young pilots who fought gallantly to defend the UK against an imminent invasion. Among those brave few was the eighteen year old Geoffrey Wellum, shown here destroying a Heinkel He.111 on 11th September in Spitfire 1a K9998. The Heinkel fought back, peppering Wellum's Spitfire with holes, but the German bomber was mortally wounded and was seen to go down in flames.

Half Price - £30.00 		Defending the barracades, men of the 24th of Foot, or 2nd Warwickshire regiment (later in 1881 to become the South Wales Borderers) repel the massed Zulus attempting to smash through the mealie bag entrenchment. At the end of the battle, hundreds of the Zulu warriors of the uThulwans, iNdlondo and uDloko regiments lay dead. According to official figures the British lost 25 men, 11 Victoria crosses were awarded for the defence of Rorkes Drift.

Half Price - £25.00 		The Allied breakthrough into the Normandy plain, against heavy German opposition. Filed marshall Montgomery claimed that Operation Goodwood had two major aims – the first being to break out from the beaches and the other to destroy the German armoured reserves and draw them away from the US forces that were preparing for Operation Cobra in the western sector. The plan for the breakout began with a massive aerial bombardment, using the strategic air forces large bombers to decimate the German defending forces then Lt-General Richard OConnors VIII Corps comprising three whole armoured divisions – 11th, 7th and Guards - and spearheaded by Major-General Pip Roberts 11th would then rush forward, overwhelm the defending Germans and causing the armoured forces to move forward and break out from the beach areas. To cover the flanks the Canadians would fight their way to Caen, while the British 3rd Infantry and 51st Highland Divisions would cover the left flank, and move further eastward.
